| DESCRIPTION |
This five-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to architect enterprise search solutions with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The course focuses on the advanced configuration tasks for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 farms, and the architectural issues and decisions that affect enterprise search solutions.
The first 3 days of this course are the same as the first 3 days of the MOSS/WSS class.
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Explain how Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 server roles map to a server farm environment.
- Describe how to configure Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 server farms.
- Describe how to secure Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 deployments.
- Describe how to configure information architecture and solution architecture in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 deployments.
- Explain how to plan for disaster recovery and how to backup and restore Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 solutions.
- Explain how to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 deployments.
- Describe how to configure search and indexing in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 deployments.
- Describe enterprise search architecture.
- Recognize and apply architectural patterns to search scenarios.
- Performance-tune and optimize enterprise search solutions.
- Plan capacity for enterprise search solutions.
- Architect search solutions that include line-of-business data.
- Architect, extend, and lead development effort for enterprise search solutions.

| WHAT TO EXPECT |
| Students who attend this course can expect five intense days of online instructor-led, hands-on learning with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The first 3 days are focused on architecting and planning a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 solution and the last 2 days are focused on Enterprise Search in MOSS 2007. Students will perform advanced administrative tasks in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 farm environments, and will also complete decision and design-based activities focused on the many areas of architecting enterprise search solution with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Concepts and topics areas are taught through the use of scenarios based on a fictitious company called Litware, Inc. This is an accelerated, fast-paced course recommended for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Solution Architects. Due to the instructional design of the course, students must feel comfortable interacting in an online virtual classroom environment with communication via telephone and the virtual classroom tools. |
| WHO SHOULD ATTEND |
| This course is designed for Solution Architects. A Solution Architect is the person who organizes development effort. They are responsible for the vision that underlies the solution and the execution of that vision into the solution. The Solution Architect becomes involved when the business is developing requirements. They then remain involved throughout the balance of the project. A Solution Architect converts the business requirements (including functional and non-functional requirements) into an architecture and design that will become the blueprint for a solution. |
| STUDENT KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS |
Students who attend this course should have working knowledge of how to use and configure Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. This includes having:
- At least two years working with SharePoint Products and Technologies, in any of the following roles:
- Solution Architect
- Technical Architect
- At least two years practical experience as a lead developer (or provided architectural guidance to lead developers) in development projects for SharePoint Products and Technologies
- Technical expertise in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
- At least six months combined experience as a technical and solution architect for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 projects.
- Led consulting engagements that are focused on the search technologies of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
- Experience gathering and analyzing customer experience.
- Completed course 5060A: Implementing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
- Completed course 5061A: Implementing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

| CLASS TIME REQUIREMENTS |
| This is a five-day online class where the student will participate in 4 hours of online instructor led classroom time and about 2 hours of hosted hands-on-lab time per day. |
| CLASSROOM ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS |
| This course is offered as a virtual classroom, which means students attend from their home or office using Live Meeting and a telephone. Requirements to attend this course include: A laptop or desktop machine, a dedicated high-speed connection and the ability to dial into a toll free number for up to 6 hours/day. Students are expected to review all materials covered during previous day sessions in order to facilitate the learning environment. Note: All classes are in English only |
| CLASSROOM ATTENDANCE RECOMMENDATIONS |
| Since this is a virtual class where the student will be viewing classroom material via Live Meeting, and interacting with a Hosted Hands on Lab environment, we recommend the student to have either 2 machines (one for Live Meeting and one for Hosted Hands on Lab) or a single machine with dual screens. |
